"When searching online, canyoning is often described the exact same way: 'A fun activity suitable for everyone.'
The reality? Here at Alp Adventure, we prefer to be transparent: canyoning is not for everyone.
In our opinion, claiming that canyoning is for everyone would be a commercial lie. We don't say this to exclude anyone, but out of respect for you and for the mountains. Torrentismo is not a simple walk in the park, nor is it an amusement park. It is a true adventure in a wild, vertical, and ever-changing environment, where even the most accessible route requires real commitment.
Before booking, there are a few important things you should know to consciously evaluate whether this experience is truly right for you.

Why Is Canyoning Not for Everyone? The Mountains Are Not an Amusement Park
Canyoning means moving directly through a riverbed—wading through water, sliding down polished rock chutes, and navigating the obstacles carved out by nature. Inside the gorge, there are no wooden boardwalks or handrails; it’s just you and the raw elements.
To dynamic-proof your experience so it’s a thrill rather than an exhausting struggle, you’ll need three essential things:
A solid baseline of fitness: You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but a basic habit of staying active is a must. If you lead a completely sedentary lifestyle, scrambling over massive boulders will feel incredibly demanding.
Confidence in the water: The water flows fast, splashes constantly, and it’s brisk. While you don’t need to be an Olympic swimmer (your thick neoprene wetsuit keeps you incredibly buoyant), you must be 100% comfortable in deep water or when the spray hits your face.
A true spirit of adventure: You will be deep in pristine, untouched nature. At that moment, it’s just you, the rock, and the rush of the water.
"I've Done Canyoning Before": Beware of the Difference with Aqua-Trekking
So many times our clients tell us: 'I've done canyoning before, I know how it works.' Then, when we dive deeper into what they actually did, we discover it was just a walk down a river.
Let’s set the record straight: aqua-trekking is not canyoning. Aqua-trekking is a wonderful river hike where you wade up or down a watercourse without any significant drops. Because there is no vertical element, there’s absolutely no need for a harness or ropes.
Authentic canyoning, on the other hand, takes place deep inside narrow gorges (canyons) where the river drops sharply. To move forward, it is technically essential to use ropes, harnesses, and carabiners to rappel down safely—alongside your wetsuit and helmet. Here at Alp Adventure, we take you out to experience the real deal!
The Same Route, Two Opposite Worlds
"Working out in the field every day, we see this massive contrast constantly: For some clients, our Family or beginner routes are such a smooth breeze that for their next outing, they jump straight to the advanced level. For others, that exact same route turns out to be incredibly complicated and exhausting, even on sections where no vertical rope rappels are required.
Why does this happen? Because everyone has a completely different perception of their personal limits and a different baseline for physical movement. Those who expect a relaxing walk in the park end up shocked, simply because they underestimated the canyon environment.
Our Approach: Empowering You to Choose
"We aren't writing this to scare you. On the contrary, we are writing this because we want to empower you to make your own conscious, informed decision.
Canyoning can deliver incredible thrills, hidden landscapes that very few eyes will ever see, and an absolute rush of energy. But it demands respect for the environment you are moving through and honesty with yourself.
If you feel you have the right spirit of adventure, the willingness to challenge yourself, and a solid baseline of fitness, then you are ready to experience something truly unforgettable.
